SPUR Weekly Update!Updated July 16, 2002
Renovations are underway! Check back every Wednesday for an update on the construction along with progress photos! Previous weeks' photos and updates are included as part of the SPUR photo diary. The full diary will be available on CD at the end of the project.
Check out the new historic artifact section in the diary that highlights some of the historic elements uncovered during the construction. Our very own urban archaeology project.
My apologies for not captioning pictures. If you have trouble identifying what the picture shows, the picture file names are fairly descriptive.
What's happened this past weekSprinkler work continues with a lot of sprinkler pipe installation in the pit. Men's head has been framed for the new wall with Pansy and the new shower stalls. Plumbing work continued in Men's Head. A leaking steam pipe was discovered under the floor of the pit and was dug up and replaced. Remnants of the floor were exposed in the process (see historic pages).
The MAAB has not ruled on our variance. A hearing on the variance is scheduled for August 5. The current plan is that we will proceed with the work assuming the variance will be accepted, so we do not fall behind the construction schedule. If the variance is not approved we will deal with it after they rule.
What's happening this coming weekThe sprinkler work will finish up within the next day or two. The electricians are hard at work finishing up the first floor wiring and are then heading up to the second floor. The underground piping in the pit will be inspected, then covered over allowing the new pit and Women's Head framing to go up.
